I am Rosie Jones, a clinical, community, and ecological psychologist, with a desire to contribute to creating a society where we live in deep connection with life on Earth and with our authentic natures.
Through Psychology For Ecology I offer workshops and facilitation to individuals, groups, organisations and communities seeking to participate in the ‘Great Turning’ to a life sustaining culture. I am also directly involved in several social and land-based projects myself, practising my learnings, and learning through practice.
I value and welcome collaborations and connections with projects, organisations, community organisers, educators, activists and facilitators also treading pathways towards regeneration of life.
I understand our industrial growth society to be destroying Earth’s ecological systems and social wellbeing. And to be collapsing itself. I believe a key response to this is local, grassroots, place-based building of alternative regenerative cultures and ways of life. For me, regenerative work means evolving the capacity of systems to flourish with life. I seek to support regeneration of myself, other individuals, groups, communities, ecosystems and Gaia, simultaneously and in support of eachother. I am finding this approach full of learning, creativity, love, connection, healing and fun, and hope others will find the same.
The Work That Reconnects
The Work That Reconnects and the ideas of Joanna Macy are key inspiration and resource for me. I offer experiental workshops and facilitation training in this methodology. It is a set of teachings and practices that weave grief and despair work, deep ecology, deep time, and empowering philosophies to resource and support people to explore their emotional, philosophical and practical responses to the climate and ecological crises.
Living Systems Thinking
I am guided by living systems thinking and applying this understanding to group processes as well as the more-than-human world. Living systems design is another way of describing permaculture, and I studied a Permaculture Design Certificate in 2022. I apply permaculture design priniciples and tools in my work with community and land-based projects.
Bioregionalism
I am exploring the importance of honouring place in regenerative endeavours, and in particular the movement to restore ecosystems and develop regenerative economic and social systems at the bioregional (landscape) scale. I have been facilitating local study groups to share learning about bioregionalism, based on the work of Joe Brewer and Earth Regenerators. I can offer ‘experiential bioregionalism’ workshops to groups on request.
Building Prosocial Groups and Effective Communication
This is a big learning edge for me at the moment. I believe that the Great Turning will largely be enacted by small groups working collaboratively on regenerative projects, and networking in larger communuties. I experience a huge need for developing capacities to connect more deeply and empathically with oneself, others and the wider system in order to support a ‘power-with’ paradigm. I have recently been doing a lot of learning about approaches to support this, including Nonviolent Communication, Prosocial, Sociocracy, restorative circles, and concensus decision making. I welcome opportunities to practice sharing my ongoing learnings with groups that are also interested in developing their skills in these areas.
Trust Economy
I strongly believe in the need to develop new regenerative systems across all domains of life. This incudes how we relate to ‘work’, money and resources. I offer all my work in the gift/trust/solidarity economy with an intention that resources can move from where they are abundant to where they are needed. Please feel empowered to work with or seek my help even if your financial resources are scarce. Equally, if this is an area of abundance for you, I welcome donations to support more regenerative work.
