Introduction to facilitating The Work That Reconnects

This is an experiential two day workshop to develop skills in facilitating a powerful deep ecology workshop methodology.

The Work That Reconnects is a set of practices offered as group workshops developed by eco-philosopher Joanna Macy and her associates, particularly as a way to support and inspire activists and prevent burnout.

The practices cover many areas, and include skills to resource ourselves, such a gratitude practices and meditations, spaces for releasing stuck grief, moving and from panic or despair to empowerment, and deeping our felt sense of connection to nature, the web of life and our ancestors and future generations.

This training will provide an introduction to The Work That Reconnects. During the two days participants will experience the 4 stages of the spiral of practices . This will be interspersed by teaching and discussion of facilitation skills and issues, and some opportunity to practice facilitation skills. We will consider ways that the practices can be used creatively in different settingsm such as community groups and in protest actions. We will explore how concepts from deep ecology and systems theory can help to deepen our understanding of what a regenerative culture can be.

Requirements:
Participants should read ‘Active Hope’ or ‘Coming Back to Life’ prior to attending the workshop.
Participants are recommended to have experienced a workshop in TWTR or similar grief space prior to attending.
Participants should have the intention to offer some practices from the Work That Reconnects within the next 6 months.
